Conquered Waving Lace

I have tried to knit the pattern at least 4 times. The pattern was originally going to be knit with my MadelineTosh Vintage Apron, but for some odd reason I could not get gauge. I tried it on 2.50mm needles and then 2.00mm needles. The first was too big and the second try it was too small. So I gave up and went with another pattern.

When I started with my Interlacement yarn I knew it had too much going on to use a really interesting detailed pattern and so the thought of waving lace came back. (Not to say that the waving lace pattern is at all simple.) I thought I’d start them off with 2.5mm again thinking the Interlacement yarn was thicker and that the pattern would finally work out. A few repeats in, I am disappointed to realize that it’s still too big. Not wanting to give up on this, I though, hmm lets go down to 2.00mm and so I did and am finally happy to report that they fit! If anyone out there has small feet and odd gauge problems, you can definitely get this pattern to work out. Oh and back to what I mentioned before, this is definitely not a super simple pattern. I kept miss-counting because the yarn overs threw me off. If possible, always try to count every few rows to make sure you’re where you’re suppose to be since I had to tink back quite a few times. Other than that, I had a good time with this pattern. And the repeats weren’t too hard to memorize, especially after a few mishaps. hehe.

Sock Club Stash

More stash love for ya on yet another fantastic Monday.

I’ve been a bit behind on posting my goodies from the sock clubs I’ve luckily been able to join. Here’s the first shipment of the Wool Girl Sock Club. I like it! Very pretty shades of blues, greens and purples. It’s a sport weight, so I don’t know what I’m gonna be doing with it. I may knit the pattern, but then again who knows, it’ll probably be in the stash queue for some time, hehe.

The yarn is really squishy.

Next, September’s Yarn Pirate Booty
It’s a Merino/Tencel blend and wow, this stuff is super soft and shiny. I’m really glad I joined this club. The colors may not be what I’d normally go for but this club has exposed me to a lot of different types of yarn blends/bases that are just amazing.

And last but not least, I do have to knitting to show. Yippee. And just in time for Socktoberfest 2007. I’ve already cast on its mate.
